Wijk bij Duurstede
Wijk bij Duurstede has a beautiful old town centre offering many cultural and historical attractions. The Grote Kerk on the marketplace is one of the most important national monuments in the old town centre. In the mid-15th century, David of Burgundy expanded it into a three-aisled cruciform church. He has also left his mark on Duurstede Castle, De Mazijk and Het Hof.
Every first Sunday of the month, a guide is available at 2 p.m. at the Tourist Office (Markt 24) to show you around. See also the Events Schedule (in Dutch). Every first Sunday of the month, you can indulge your cultural cravings here, when the galleries, studios and monuments can be visited from 1.30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.
However, Wijk bij Duurstede offers a whole lot more! While walking, cycling or driving over the dikes, you can take in the beautiful views of the River Lek. And after a wonderful excursion, relax and enjoy the many terraces and restaurants.
